My family and I love this holiday. We are eaters. So we eat. And when we get together we always enjoy catching up on the family gossip. Yes, even Tronster's family has gossip. We are a geographically dispersed family. Most of us live in the Southeastern part of the USA. Travel time between the members range from 5 to 9 hours. Over the last few years, as the younger ones have gotten married, it seems these traditions change. But our family is always full of love.
Sometimes life's events keep us from gathering with family. When we are separated by distance and life throws a roadblock, we get together with friends. We have hosted and we have been hosted for Thanksgiving, and each year I am reminded of how special it is to have close friends. Although I blog here as anonymous as possible to protect the innocent, I am very thankful for all my friends.
When the family gets together, it is a major affair. Here you see the table we used a few years back to accommodate all the family members. Sadly, not all of them are with us today, however, the memories are still there and they will live on in our hearts.
While serving in the US Navy, two of the six years I was deployed to the Adriatic Sea. The Officers and ship's crew made an extraordinary effort to ease the pain of separation from our families. I was not as thankful then as I am now. If you are able to help sailor, soldier or Airman this Thanksgiving by sharing your home, I personally would be very thankful.
