Friends and Food

Image
Our next day was spent touring the small Florida towns between St Augustine and Melbourne. Sunshine and I visited with one of her oldest friends. There they fixed us a great breakfast and provided Sunshine with some gifts. Who knew we would go on vacation and fill up the car with makeup.  Regardless, after a great time of fellowship, fruit and vegetable picking and food, we headed down the coast to another set of long lost friends. We enjoyed discussing with them the dinner things in life such as food. We loaded up and visited this great little restaurant in Melbourne. All precautions were in place, the staff was great and I recommend the scallops.  Next stop, hometown friends on vacation too. We drive a few more miles and low and behold members of our circle of friends from VA were visiting family at the same time.  Coordinating vacations is never easy. We handled it like bosses. Showing up with food, and recently acquired fresh vegetables and make up for the ladies. We picked up a

Next Stop: Florida

Image
Our Journey continued down I95, which lead us directly to Florida. Still ahead of our hosts, we stopped at the Florida welcome center. You could imagine Disney was a big part. There were several area of the center with information for the world renowned park. Florida offers many different activities which are not related to Disney and you can get all that information here at the center.  Sunshine and I have already laid out our trip, but it was good to look around.  Some other activities include visiting the First Coast, Space coast, and even Key West. Miami is a big draw, and other parts are good for fishing. If you like to golf, there is the world golf hall of fame.  The day is getting long, and we are getting weary of the road. Additionally I just ate at Paula Dean’s and I think I could use a nap. Our first leg of the trip is almost over, we have one more side stop and then it is off to our timeshare.  Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Got to eat

Image
Continuing on our road trip, stopping in various places to see what we can see, the Georgia welcome center is only about 30 min from historic Savanah. We did not have enough time to tour the city, however our goal was to find some good food. Well, there was one place my Sunshine had heard of and wanted to try.  Paula Deans restaurant was open for businesses. The southern flair of her food was a good choice. It is a “Family style” all you can eat  you choose between two or three main dishes and a number of side orders  the price depends on what he meal you pick  (number of main dishes)  we went the fried pork chops and meat loaf.  Currently there is no buffet  another key is you can not take left overs  so order and eat what you get  a small desert is included and you are able to take that on the road with ya. Nobody likes to travel on an empty stomach  a full one is only slightly more enjoyable  you may find after a big meal you are ready for a nap   We killed about an hour and a half

Georgia on my mind

Image
Well, heading south for a much needed break, we drive into Georgia. Many times when we travel we go to get there. Not stopping to smell the flowers or check out the sites until we reach our destination. This road trip was different. We are sharing a time share ( get it?) and our host is a few hours behind.  The South Carolina welcome center heading south is under construction. No doubt delayed by our current situation. However the Georgia welcome center was open for business. A few restrictions are in place, to protect everyone. So we practices the three “Ws” while in the building. Wear a mask, Wash tour hands, and watch your distance.  The welcome center has a display of all the things you could see and do throughout Georgia. Apparently there are gators in Georgia. Who knew?   Each of these displays showed different regions in the state to visit. Separating the areas allows a traveler to get information based on each of their destinations. Which is very convenient.  The biggest sign

Road Trip Number 2

Image
Cabin fever and preplanning has set Tronster and his Sunshine on another road trip. This time we will be joining Mother of Tronster to celebrate her birthday. Flying is such a chore, and we have pets to deal with for any road trip. So we packed up the Explorer and hit the road. The next few posts will share the adventure.  First welcome center to share, South Carolina.  The South Carolina welcome center is currently under construction when you are heading south. Sunshine and I have a safe place to park,  and jumped over to the big sign. Using a selfie stick / tripod we got some pictures together   Above you see the tripod did not handle the little breeze very well  we were able to get a couple of photos we could use, but I got three of the grass.  None the less and was fun setting it all up  even running back in forth from the tripod was entertaining  the Interstate was not crowded and we plenty of time to make the drive to our next stop   I know the suspense is difficult to deal wit

Automatic drip coffee

Image
Coffee.  A warm beverage to enjoy anytime of the day. Especially first thing on a cool morning. My coffee will not meet the standards of many. I drink so much it is considered weak by my friends. What is lost in strength is regained through quantity. I drink about two pots a day.  But this post is more about the machine than the drink. The automatic drip coffee machine with programmable start. Oh want an advancement in technology. There to make our lives easier. Just prepare the pot before going to bed and then when you wake up. You have a great cup ready to go. What could go wrong?  Let me share a couple of “gone wrongs” from my experience. Maybe you will get a laugh. (As I do when I look back)  (1). The Residual Overflow:  this is a condition that happens more when I was not teleworking so much. You fail to finish off the pot before you leave for the day. Then the night before you fill reservoir with water, replace the filter, add tour grounds , then set it and forget it. You know

Get out of the House

Image
Well, teleworking and social distancing have really kept me in the house.  What is one to do?  I would normally have a daily adventure of commuting to work to break up my view of the house.  But now, just go from bedroom, bathroom, office, kitchen, living room, kitchen abs kitchen. (The kitchen is where keep all the snacks.).  The office is limited to 40-60% occupancy right now. So this past week I went in twice. It’s not as adventurous with so many people off the roads.   It was after work that Sunshine and I ventured out to a local hotspot for dinner with a few select friends.  The MGM grand recently opened up in our area. Sunshine enjoys having her picture taken in the lobby with all of their decorations. Which are seasonal. In the past we have made it out there to check out Christmas, but now it’s just not Christmas.  The lobby is set up with Chinese Fortune theme. At least that is what I would call it. Now, the short time Sunshine and I were there we took 68 photos with my phone

COVID therapy

What can we do as citizens of the greatest country who are facing tough times because of a pandemic?  We can support our local businesses. That’s what. Locally I’ve seen several small businesses close up. I have had friends who have been laid off or furloughed for months. I’ve been blessed with a good job and the ability to keep working during these hard times. To spread that out a little I try to eat out once a week. With family in town this past week, we have been able to eat out a few times. This last time we went to the Juke Box Diner. The service was excellent. The menus is more international than I expected. Tronster would recommend this place to anyone.  We, despite what has been going on around us, can make a difference if we try. Be kind, remember God is in control, and have a great day.  Thanks for stopping.

Copping with COVID

Image
We all have had challenges facing us during this pandemic.  This is not a woe is me post. This is a post talking about how I am working at home in support of this great nation.  One of the advantages of having to stay away from the office is access to my kitchen.  My smoking hot wife was home too. That means I get to enjoy great company and great food. Normally I would be in the office having a poorly made breakfast sandwich from the jiffy mart store in my building.  So as a positive from the current circumstances, I get more time with my wife and I get a good breakfast  Thank you for stopping and reading my corner of the Internet.

1st road trip of 2021

Image
Our first road trip of 2021. Sunshine and I are avid travelers. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major disruption of our plans. In an effort to put that behind us, we gathered up a couple of friends and headed out to West Virginia.  There, in a small town that was made famous in the year 2000, we stopped for some lunch at the Bavarian Inn. Located on the Potomac. This little inn brings a touch of German food to the locals and travelers alike. They were decorated a little like a German Christmas town. I say a little because it was a very little  We were certainly glad to see the soldiers guarding the doors were following the three “Ws” of the pandemic. Wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance.  The Inn’s main building has the desk to check in and houses the restaurant  Here we enjoyed a great lunch and some fellowship while escaping the confines of our home   The staff has taken extra precautions during these days and always wore a mask  The day was cool, but not cold, and o
